Reviews by Josh Stiltner

Safe House (BUY)

No One Is Safe…

Starring: Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds and Robert Patrick

Synopsis: A young CIA agent is tasked with looking after a fugitive in a safe house. But when the safe house is attacked, he finds himself on the run with his charge.

My Two Cents: Denzel Washington walks effortlessly through the role of Tobin Frost. And Ryan Reynolds held his own against Washington, playing the younger, inexperienced agent who learns fast. Over all this was an awesome action/spy flick with two fine actors playing their roles perfectly.

Special Features:

DVD/Blu-ray Features
-Making Safe House

-Hand-to-Hand action

-Building the Rooftop Chase

-Inside the CIA

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (RENT)

Believe the impossible. Discover the incredible…

Starring: Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson and Michael Caine

Synopsis: Sean Anderson partners with his mom's husband on a mission to find his grandfather, who is thought to be missing on a mythical island.

My Two Cents: This was a very entertaining flick, whether you have kids or not it's just fun. Both kids and adults will enjoy it. Who said that adults have only to watch serious and artistic movies? Sometimes a little bit of unpretentious fun is necessary and this movie definitely provides it.

Special Features:

DVD/Blu-ray Features
-Are You Strong Enough To Survive Mysterious Island? Interactive Map

-Gag Reel

-Deleted Scenes

John Carter (BUY)

Lost in Our World. Found in Another.

Starring: Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe

Synopsis: Transplanted to Mars, a Civil War vet discovers a lush planet inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter a princess who is in desperate need of a savior.

My Two Cents: The critics had a laundry list of unkind things to say adout this film. But I say ignore the critics and see this movie. So what did I think? I LOVED it. I think you will enjoy it as well. This movie is for everyone who likes Star Wars or Avatar or anyone who likes a simple Sci-Fi story.

Falling Skies: The Complete First Season (BUY)

We're not just fighting for our lives. We're fighting for our existence…

Starring: Maxim Knight, Sarah Carter and Noah Wyle

Synopsis: The chaotic aftermath of an alien attack has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force.

My Two Cents: For the record, I love sci-fi. I'm an avid fan of Star Trek and Star Wars. And a new show that has even a hint of sci-fi elements gets my attention and gets me excited. And this show delivers for the word go. It has a great War of The Worlds feel to it, along with great characters. Well worth picking up.

Special Features:

DVD/Blu-ray Features
-Commentary tracks to various episodes.

-Two behind-the-scenes featurettes, The Unknown and The Second Mass.

-How the "Skitters" were made featurette

-Falling Skies Panel from the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con
