Elizabeth Olsen has revealed she'll be reprising her Avengers: Age of Ultron character, Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch) in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. The news comes from E!, reporting from a "Meet the Filmmakers" event at the Regent Street Apple Store in London where Olsen was asked if she was set to appear in another Marvel movie to which she said, "I guess I'm allowed to talk about that now," adding only that she'll film her scenes in Atlanta in two weeks.
Captain America: Civil War follows the events of Age of Ultron, wherin the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, are back to direct and Olsen joins Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther in the film, which is also expected to offer up the first look at Sony's new Spider-Man as rumors as to who will play that character just arrived.
The one thing I can't help but wonder with all of this is just how much it affects the films that have yet to be released. We now know Olsen's character won't be dying in Age of Ultron just as we know who else will be around, pretty much all the way through Avengers: Infinity War - Part I. Does that eliminate the tension, knowing none of the heroes are under any threat of death?
Captain America 3 hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
