I don’t usually get on the animated film bandwagon’s, but for once, I am happy to see one win the weekend box office in Wreck-It Ralph. A clever idea combined with an even more clever promotional campaign, Wreck-It Ralph also managed to target that super nerdy, comic convention attending, Cinnamon Toast Crunch eating, old school Nintendo playing audience… me.

The Disney film did buco bucks, brining in $49.1 million in its debut which is huge for a Disney animated film that doesn’t have “Pixar” in the “Produced by” credits. Flight, the Denzel Washington drama had a strong opening as well, earning $25 million, good enough for second place. Argo slipped to third place, but still hung tough with a more than reasonable $10.2 million. Rounding out the top five were the RZA’s martial arts epic, The Man With the Iron Fists which came in fourth place with $8.2 million and Taken 2 which continues to stick around, raking in another $6 million.
