Named after the year that English inventor William Herson patented the world’s first razors, 1847 is a pioneering men’s grooming lounge in the Middle East and is said to be the ultimate grooming experience. Located in Jumeirah Beach Residence, 1847 is a great place to freshen up, undo and leave all your problems behind. Everything about the space spells out tranquillity, forcing you stop your mental watch and lose track of time. Escorted by a warm and welcoming staff, who all were very well versed with their menu and treatments I made my way into a great spa experience.

My first treatment was the Gentlemen’s Facial which is basically the ultimate facial treatment at 1847. After a thorough cleansing and gentle exfoliation, a hot towel was used to refresh my skin. The soothing head massage next was excellent continued by gentle eye treatment that is said to reduce circles and puffiness. The hour long facial left me utterly invigorated, it is a great way to charge yourself every once in a while.

Next up was an Ancient Thai Herbal Massage for 90 minutes which was essentially a massage with curative benefits. The massage involved heated herbal packs applied to the body with steady pressure. The herbal pack is said to have contained antibacterial and antifungal properties. As the massage began the combination of the gentle massage, peaceful decor and tantalising aroma I was swirled into a world of serenity.

On my way out I found an impressive in-house boutique Mint selling one of the men’s finest creams, colognes and travel packs and other grooming essentials.

Refreshed, re-energised and refreshed, 1847 is a great place for gentlemen. With facial and massages starting at 130 AED each, it is worth every penny.
