The latest James Bond flick, Skyfall took the number one spot at the box office this weekend, earning $87.8 million, a franchise record. Adding in $2.2 million from Thursday night previews at IMAX and other large-format theaters, Skyfall has taken in $90 million domestically, according to studio estimates Sunday.
That lifts the worldwide total for the Bond film, starring Daniel Craig, to $518.6 million since it began rolling out overseas in late October. Internationally, the flick added $89 million this weekend to raise its overseas revenue to $428.6 million. Not too shabby.
Last weekends front-runner, the animated film Wreck-It Ralph took second place, earning $33.1 million. Which makes its domestic total to $93.7 million.
In third place was Flight, starring Denzel Washington, dropping 39% to $15.1 million. It has earned $47.8 million after ten days.
Argo, starring Ben Affleck, took fourth place with $6.7 million, a 34% decrease from last week. This brings its domestic total to $85.7 million. And rounding out the top five is Taken 2 which dipped 32% to $4.0 million and now has a strong $131.3 million total.
