Week 6: Bills need to break the cycle

Tech tipsComputer Tricks

Let’s make a pact: I won’t talk about last week if you don’t. Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen and move on. What 45-3 loss? The offense fell apart and the defense disappeared?… nope, not ringing a bell. San Francisco got into the end zone so many times that many began to wonder if the Bills just left the game early? Wait, when did we play the Niners? See what I mean?

This week against Arizona could be the make it or break it game of the season. This is not the official consensus and mostly refers to whether or not I’ll have to sign up for that psychological therapy Monday morning after all. With two straight losses (and horrific ones at that) it’s pretty critical that the Bills pull out a win in order to revive a season that just a few weeks ago looked so promising.

The Bills’ pass defense has struggled in the past (I saw something mentioned about it collapsing last week against San Fran but that game didn’t happen, so) but it can’t afford to do so against Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald, who is a versatile athlete. Lucky for the Bills, Arizona has had trouble protecting the QB all season and though John Skelton, who suffered an ankle injury earlier in the season, is rumored to be available for Sunday’s game, we’ve seen how that first game back from an injury can pan out. A good pass rush could be the key to keeping the Bills on top.

The offense needs to rediscover itself. Freddy J and CJ Spiller have to take over the ground again and Fitz needs enough time in the pocket to get an accurate passing game going with Stevie Johnson and Scott Chandler. Whatever caused the Bills’ offense to sputter the last couple weeks isn’t allowed to emerge against Arizona’s defense, which is the fourth best run D in the league.

Most of all, the Bills need to rule the field like they’re in charge. Get back that confidence that had fans so excited earlier this season. Dispel any theories that they’re just “the same ol’ Bills.” Show Arizona and every other future opponent that they’re not the team to hand them an easy win.

Sigh…it’s hard, but I still Billieve.

GO BILLS!!!
