Ask most people and they’ll readily tell you Hollywood is the present day Sodom and Gomorrah. Celebrities who live there are believed to dwell in their own alternate universe of sorts, where anything goes and there are no rules. But Beliefnet.com is showing that there are indeed people of faith in Tinseltown with its list of the “12 Most Powerful Christians in Hollywood.” See who made the cut—no pun intended.

Media mogul, Tyler Perry, the highest paid man in entertainment, certainly made the list.

Denzel Washington, who talked openly about his faith recently with GQ Magazine and shared what it felt like when he was filled with the Holy Spirit, is also mentioned.

Others include: the lovely Angela Bassett; Martin Sheen as in the father of outrageous Charlie “Winning” Sheen; and Patricia Heaton, best known for her role as the wife of Ray Ramano on “Everybody Loves Raymond.”

Mel Gibson is listed as well, though he has had some troubles in recent years with drunken rants and public relationship drama.

It is very important to have people of faith in the field of entertainment, because Hollywood drives so much of what we see, hear, and embrace as socially acceptable in America.
