Samuel L. Jackson's is Hollywood's most profific actor and when it comes to making movies Jackson's got many stars beat. He's now adding something new to his resume. Mr. Jackson will be hosting the BET Awards, which will air on July 1st.

The nominee list is quite impressive with many well known artist such as Kanye West and Beyonce collecting the most nominations. Will they walk away in all their catergories or will they be outdone by competitors? Lets see only time will tell.

Here's a list of some of the BET Award nominations:

Best R&B Artists

Marsha Ambrosius leads the female pack followed by Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Melanie Fiona and Rihanna. Chris Brown makes the male list along with Bruno Mars, Miguel, Trey Songz and Usher.

Best Group

The group list is interesting. It begins with Bad Meets Evil who offers a blazing hot hip-hop sound from Detroit. Next is Diddy Dirty Money. Although the group has disbanded now, their sound still gets a nod. Maybach Music Group offers a different kind of hip-hop that garners fan attention. Mindless Behavior tries to reignite boy bands while The Throne continues to rule the music world.

Best New Artist

Breaking into the music scene is tough, but these nominees succeeded where others failed. A$AP Rocky, from New York, carved a niche for himself quickly in the hip-hip world. Detroit based Big Sean also made a splash. Diggy established an interesting new sound. Future delivered repeatedly. Meek Mill helped himself as well as popular group Maybach Music Group.

Best Actor

Best actor nods went to Don Cheadle proved his range from comedy to high drama. Common, a former hip hop artist, proved he had acting talent with several projects including New Year's Eve, where he played the husband of Halle Berry. Idris Elba dominated the small screen with his portrayal of a troubled detective John Luther on Luther. He also hit the big screen with power in films like Thor and Ghost Rider. Kevin Hart proved star power in films like Think Like A Man and the documentary Laugh At My Pain. Finally, Denzel Washington continued to rack up points as a leading man in Safe House.

Best Actress

Angel Bassett went on stage for Mountaintop. However, she also graced the big-screen in Jumping the Broom and Green Lantern. Viola Davis caused all kinds of buzz for her performance in The Help. Her role there earned her both a Golden Globe and an Oscar nod. Taraji P. Henson helped carry Think Like a Man. Regina King made the small screen pop with her performances on Southland. Zoe Saldana turned deadly femme fatale in Columbiana.

Best Movie

Tyler Perry's Good Deeds leads the pack in a sweet romantic comedy. Jumping the Broom followed with a comedy about differences and similarities. Laugh at My Pain documented the harsh reality of stand-up comedy. Red Tails explored the truth of the Tuskegee Airmen and their role in fighting the Nazis. The Help unveiled the truth about black life in the deep South when equal rights under the law hadn't even been thought of.

While Samuel L. Jackson scored no acting nods this year, he'll nonetheless rack up the viewers in his role as the BET Awards host with the most. The gentle giant, who occasionally sports a hefty temper, is one of Hollywood's favorite actors. Look up the words star power, and a picture of Jackson will always be seen.
