Actress Chandra Wilson was born August 27, 1969 in Houston, Texas.  Best known for her role as Dr. Miranda Bailey on the ABC hit – Grey's Anatomy, Wilson began acting at the age of four, when her mother enrolled her in acting and dance classes.  By the age of 5, Wilson was performing in musicals with Houston's Theatre Under the Stars company.

A graduate of Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Wilson later studied at New York's Tisch School of Arts, where she graduated with a BFA in drama in 1991.  After graduating, she studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute.  Wilson made her New York debut in a 1991 production of "The Good Times Are Killing Me".  Her performance landed her praise and a Theater World Award for Outstanding Debut Performance.

Before landing a spot on Grey's, Wilson got her big-screen debut alongside Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington in the 1993 film "Philadelphia".  Other credits on Wilson's acting resume include appearances on The Cosby Show, Law and Order, The Sopranos, Third Watch and Sex and the City.
