How ironic is it that Jay-Z, who sampled It's the Hard Knock Life from the 1977 Broadway musical Anne in his 1998 song Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem), will now score the music in the modern-day film remake of Anne.
FYI: Scoring - providing music to accompany specific moments in the film to enhance the scene.
The film will star Jay's Roc Nation artist and Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith's daughter Willow. Will is also the producer. Jay will write all new music for the soundtrack. This shouldn't be a hard task for him to do since he's had practice. In 2007, his album American Gangsta was inspired by the film of the same name starting Denzel Washington. The concept album achieved great success reaching platinum status. I can just imagine how great the music will be for this Anne film!!
Jay-Z is among other music artists who are dabbling in movie scoring. Justin Timberlake will be scoring for a new film called The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea featuring his fiancee Jessica Biel. He will also serve as music supervisor and composer of the film.
FYI: A music supervisor is in charge of choosing, negotiating, and incorporating pieces of music into the visual media in this case the film.
In 2010, Pharrell Williams composed music for the movie Despicable Me.
