Vincent is often a well-respected cop, as well as a devoted husband and father. But below the surface area of his idyllic existence, Vincent is involved which has a very dangerous group involving gangsters and drug dealers. When Vincent and his / her partner are caught stealing an immense quantity of cocaine from a powerful drug lord, the darker side connected with Vincent's life threatens in order to destroy his family as well as career. In a race contrary to the clock, Vincent must return the drugs to save lots of his son's life.

Jardin wastes no time easing into the action, as the movie opens on police partners Vincent (Sisley) as well as Manuel (Laurent Stocker) intercepting the cocaine hand-off in what becomes a motor vehicle chase and bullet-laden struggle. We learn that the cops are preparing to keep the stash intended for themselves, but when mob boss/nightclub proprietor Marciano (Serge Riaboukine) catches wind of the double-cross, he kidnaps Vincent's daughter Thomas (Samy Seghir). The ensuing race against time and energy to rescue his child, which ends up involving other cops through the force (among these people the lovely Lizzie Brocher? as Vignali) comes about almost entirely within the bowels on the nightclub.

A single-location film can be a feat unto itself, but Jardin makes 2 incredibly smart decisions: First, he treats the location being a character, introducing us to its various components – back again rooms, kitchens, walk-in freezers, overhead crawl spaces, bathrooms, pool halls, dance floors – and builds on their importance, eventually involving them inside action. Second, he utilizes a shrill credit score, the duality of blown-out along with shadowed lighting, handheld camera techniques and intensely cramped set pieces to mount the building tension having a sense of disquieting claustrophobia. The director was therefore intent on authenticity when it reached a feeling of suffocation which he refused to open way up walls or build special set pieces for the camera to fit directly into; every location is true, and every shot is determined up within it. No Hollywood tricks are employed here, and it makes every one of the difference.

In addition to Jardin's deft operate behind the camera, Sisley's devotion to his role – the emotional and physical improvement of his character – is usually palpable. Whether he's breaking down inside a stairwell, beating a man inside a back room or when driving during a high-speed run after, Sisley is giving 110 per cent. Plus, he does his very own choreography and stunts. Watch your backs, Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise, Matt Damon, Denzel Washington, Daniel Craig and Company. – this guy is the truth, and he's nipping your heels.

Sleepless Night is among those thoroughly satisfying, endlessly entertaining and fully adrenaline-inducing films that grips on and do not lets go. There are echoes connected with Hitchcock films, The Raid, Die Hard and Generate within its frames (although Jardin would show you he was primarily affected by South Korean cinema such as Oldboy), but it does itself justice by proving to become a fully developed standalone little bit of cinema. Don't wait for the remake to get this one on your own radar: Jardin's version of Sleepless Night is the original, and an instant traditional.
