The 1974 classic comedy film Uptown Saturday Night, starring Sidney Poitier, Bill Cosby and Harry Belafonte, might be getting a high-profile reboot. Warner Brothers is reportedly remaking the film and hopes that Will Smith and Denzel Washington will take on leading roles. Overbrook Entertainment, which is owned by Smith and his partner James Lassiter, is in the process of developing the project.

Adam McKay, who wrote and directed the Will Ferrell hits Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights, The Other Guys,and the forthcoming Anchorman 2, is currently in negotiations to develop and direct Uptown Saturday Night.
The 1974 version of the film tells the story of Steve Jackson (Sidney Poitier) and Wardell Franklin (Bill Cosby), who sneak out of their houses to visit Madame Zenobia's, a high-class but illegal nightclub. During their visit the place is robbed, and they are forced to hand over their wallets. Steve's wallet turns out to have contained a winning lottery ticket, and together they must recover their stolen property.
The original film boasted an all-star line-up, and if Washington and Smith sign on for the Uptown Saturday Night remake, it could mean major box office success.
