The 40 yard dash to the playoffs is finally over. Now the marathon that is the NBA post season has arrived so sit back, relax and enjoy the show. However the show may not be one of those five star movies we are usually accustomed to seeing. Not many people are going to rush to the theatre to see a B-List cast with a predictable plot! Our George Clooney's and Denzel Washington's are playing hurt if they are going to be playing at all. The list of stars that have sat out due to injury this year goes a little something like this...(Click the "NBA" tab for Finals Bracket)
Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire just to name a few. Oh yea there is also that really tall guy in Orlando that has become everyone's new favorite evil villain in your basic sequel horror flick in Dwight Howard.
This shortened season has produced excitement, entertainment and injuries. Some of the best players in the league have been hurt, are currently injured or will be missing the post season entirely. Now let's not get too crazy here! I'm still watching the playoffs because my Knicks actually have as good a chance as any team to make it to the finals. Okay maybe not, but with an injury ridden eastern conference and LeBron having to carry the Heat and the Celtics being one step away from senior citizenship, I guess it's conceivable to think that Melo and the Knicks could pull this off!As much of a homer as I am and as fan biased as I can be, I give you my NBA Playoff Tournament predictions as only the Sports Prophet can do! To be fair let me preface this by saying that I picked the Heat in 5 games over the Thunder when the season started. That will now change! I picked Kevin Durant to win the MVP, that won't change! And I foolishly chose Mark Jackson as the coach of the year when in fact it should be Tom Thibodeau for a second straight season, hands down! I now present to you the playoff tree, my picks and please leave yours as well and try to out predict the Prophet.
