Safe House — an action thriller starring Denzel Washington — topped box offices for two weeks across the United States including the week of Valentine's Day. The movie brought in a total amount of $115.6 million in five weeks according to Yahoo Movies.
The movie features explosions as cars slam into buildings , car chases, firefights, betrayal all in the beautiful setting of Cape Town, Africa.
"It's a great action movie," Escondido Charter High School senior Ian Myers said.
Ryan Reynolds plays Matt Weston who is in charge of the Cape Town Safe House. Weston gets a phone call explaining that he finally has a "package". The "package" is an experienced ex-CIA agent Tobin Frost played by Washington.
Frost was on the run from the U.S. government in order to avoid being prosecuted for terrorism against the United States.
However some viewers felt the movie's plot was under developed.
"I just didn't feel like the story was explained," ECHS senior Connor Finney said. "It was trying to be a Bourne movie and it just didn't work. "
