A fourth grader at Norwalk’s League Elementary appears to be okay, after getting hit by a car after school.
It happened yesterday afternoon. The girl suffered no serious injuries, but was taken to Fisher Titus Medical Center by ambulance, as a precaution. Reports indicate the girl ran in front of a crossing guard, before traffic was completely stopped. No charges will be filed against the driver.
Candlelight vigils will be held tomorrow night, for Athena Castile.
One will begin at 7pm at Pohl Park, in downtown Norwalk. The other will begin at 8pm, at the Washington Park Gazebo in Sandusky. The 11-week-old girl died last week, of multiple stab wounds. Her 19-year-old cousin, Denzel Castile is in jail, charged in connection with her death.
AAA is projecting a slight decrease in travel this Memorial Day weekend.
Officials said overall travel will be down about one percent. 34.8 million Americans will go at least 50 miles from home between today and Monday. The decline is slightly misleading. According to AAA, auto travel will be up slightly, but air travel will be down eight percent, due to ‘fee fatigue’ and the waffling economy.
It appears internet sweepstakes cafés around the state will soon be out of business.
Legislation that all but bans the establishments passed the Ohio Senate yesterday. It’s now off to Governor John Kasich, for his signature.
Expansion is closer to reality, at Pepperidge Farm in Willard.
This week, the Huron County Commissioners approved legislation dealing with a tax break, and bonds. Pepperidge Farm officials are considering adding more than 275,000 square feet, and 50 new jobs at the facility on State Route 103.
U.S. Senator Rob Portman’s staff is coming to Norwalk.
Open office hours will be held between 10 and 11am, one week from today, at Norwalk City Hall. Residents will be able to share thoughts and concerns with staff members. No appointments are necessary.
The closure of Norwalk’s West Seminary Street parking lot for pavement work has been rescheduled, to May 25th, until May 28th.
